Functional Dry Needling

Functional dry needling (FDN) is the use of thin, monofilament needles to address neural and muscular restrictions and dysfunction.

This is different from acupuncture, which involves your meridians.

It is more specific to your exact symptoms and can involve the addition of electrical stimulation. E-stim tends to feel like a light tapping or buzzing.

What can benefit from FDN?

  • Increased muscular tension

  • Poor muscular activation

  • Poor nerve activation

  • Excessive nerve or muscle sensitivity

  • Referred pain from a nerve or muscle to antoher region

  • Increased fascial tension

  • Neuropathy/Neuralgia

  • Radiculopathy

The goal of functional dry needling is to make positive changes to the muscles, nerves, and fascia via mechanical, neural, and chemical pathways. The electrical stimulation is a part of this benefit as well.
