FAQs
What services does Selah Physical Therapy offer?
Selah Physical Therapy specializes in pelvic health, pregnancy, chronic pain, and wellness. Due to a blending of manual therapies, I can treat any age group, pelvic health diagnosis, orthopedic diagnosis, and gender. Your treatment is typically a mixture of reassessment, manual therapies (functional dry needling, neural manipulation, and visceral manipulation), and individualized exercises (DNS and Pilates).
Selah PT offers in-office sessions only for 60 minute time blocks. My office location is available to established patients via a consultation call and setup of an initial evaluation.
Do I need a referral?
You do not need a referral to be evaluated. In Texas, you are able to receive physical therapy services for 10 business days without a referral. A referral will be required after 10 business days, so having one ready on hand or sending one with your intake forms would be helpful. Your physician can also fax your referral to: (254) 304-0164.
What is pelvic health physical therapy?
Pelvic health physical therapists specialize in the muscles and organs of the pelvis and abdomen. People in need of pelvic health physical therapy often have symptoms such as: urinary and fecal incontinence (leakage), pelvic pain, pain with intercourse, abdominal pain, constipation, increased frequency of urination, and urinary urgency (rushing to the bathroom).
What will my first visit look like?
Your first session will be an initial evaluation:
1. The first part of your evaluation will involve a review of your history and your story with plenty of time for you to describe your exact problems and goals.
2. The second part of the session will be an objective examination of your body to help identify the root cause of your symptoms. This will involve some palpation (touching) of your muscles, abdomen, and joints and may reproduce your symptoms in the first session to allow for proper understanding of the exact cause.
3. The final part of your first session will be treatment. This is usually a mixture of personalized education, exercise, and manual therapy.
Follow up sessions will primarily focus on continued education, manual therapy, and progression of exercises which will be tailored for your exact needs and goals. A small portion of each session ~3-5 minutes will focus on reviewing your subjective progress and administrative needs such as taking your payment.
Do I have to receive a pelvic floor examination?
No you do not. You always have a choice as to what you feel most comfortable with during your assessment. Your PT may recommend an internal assessment based on your symptoms, but this is always an open discussion. External assessment and treatment of other regions of the body is always an alternative if you are not comfortable with direct treatment of the pelvic floor.
How many sessions will I need?
Most clients require between 4-6 sessions. Some clients have persistent symptoms that may require more regular treatment that involves intermittent sessions every few weeks or months. Every individual is different in their needs so listen to your own responses to treatment and continued need for PT is always an open discussion.
What do I need for my session?
Prior to your evaluation, please have all intake forms filled out online and bring copies of any imaging you may have had pertaining to your symptoms. Payment will be taken prior to the start of your session.
A play area in-office is available for your children if you are unable to receive childcare coverage during your session. It is preferred that you have childcare, but in cases such as breastfeeding newborns or decreased assistance, it is acceptable to bring your child.
In-Office sessions: Your session will take place in a private treatment room. Please arrive at least 5-10 minutes early and dress in loose, comfortable clothing. Loose shorts, tank tops, and braziers are preferred for access to your hips and shoulder blades. You are allowed to bring one other adult to your session if this makes you feel more comfortable.
What are your prices?
60 minute sessions: $150 - for PT evaluations, PT follow up, and wellness sessions.
